Seven Languages for a 1,500-Person Medical Congress
A large medical congress needed to make a highly technical, terminology-heavy program accessible to around 1,500 delegates in seven languages, with two breakout rooms running in parallel. Delivering seven-language simultaneous interpreting with booths and receivers across the main hall and two breakouts would have meant a heavy hardware footprint and a significant budget. The organizer's priority was clear: keep the quality and reach, but cut the cost.
We deployed LisanPro AI as the multilingual layer for the whole event. Speech from the main stage and each breakout room was captured from the existing sound system and processed by AI into seven live language channels.
Attendees accessed their language instantly by scanning a QR code on their own smartphones, with no receivers to distribute or collect and no per-seat hardware to rent across three rooms. A custom glossary of medical and pharmaceutical terminology was prepared beforehand, so drug names, procedures and technical terms were rendered correctly, and operators monitored the channels throughout, keeping human oversight in the loop for the most sensitive sessions.
The congress ran in seven languages across the main hall and both breakout rooms at the same time, something logistically and financially heavy with a traditional booth setup. For the client, the headline outcome was cost: by removing booths, receivers and logistics, and by scaling languages in software instead of hardware, the multilingual budget was reduced substantially while coverage actually increased. It became a clear example of how AI live translation lets organizers add languages and rooms without adding proportional cost.
